Job Description Summary

The Procurement Manager is responsible for developing, executing and managing short and long term sourcing strategies for assigned asset(s)/categories; developing and implementing sourcing strategies; performing trend and supply market analyses; managing and developing supplier relationships and performance; creating and evaluating bid proposals and negotiating terms and conditions, contracts and agreements with selected/preferred vendors.

  • Establishing strong relationships with internal departmental and executive business stakeholders; building a strong understanding of strategic business direction, requirements, and priorities across assigned suppliers and/or spend categories.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team Buyers and Procurement Specialist on category strategy implementation and issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain strategic category database; provide training to team Buyers and Procurement Specialists on category expertise
  • Developing global sourcing strategies to deliver against business objectives for internal clients.
  • Evaluating supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and bench-marking analysis.
  • Managing the fundamentals of sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFx, spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation.
  • Identifying sourcing opportunities by leveraging spend analysis tools and engage with stakeholders to consolidate requirements over categories, suppliers, and geographies.
  • Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, focusing on total cost of ownership.
  • Providing guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement strategies
  • Prepare and hold business reviews with stakeholders to review vendor performance, future opportunities, and/or challenges
  • May be required to travel up to 50% of the time.

Category Management

  • Develop, execute and manage company-wide sourcing strategies for assigned categories.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure sourcing strategies are comprehensively coordinated with business objectives.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain teams on strategies and processes to evaluate and recommend effective sourcing solutions in support of sourcing and distribution activities of new products.
  • Lead source to pay process for assigned categories; collaborate with business partners to define the scope, identify qualified suppliers, calculate the baseline, execute bid event (as needed), negotiate with suppliers, evaluate supplier responses and make award recommendations, calculate savings, collaborate with Legal department to negotiate contracts, onboard new suppliers
  • Manage cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives from beginning through completion to ensure project scope, deliverables and goals are met according to time-lines, implementation strategies and specifications.
  • Collaborate with Senior Director of Purchasing to establish team key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning, forecasting, and inventory management.

Vendor Management

  • Manage vendor performance as part of broader Supplier Relationship Management program, including but not limited to price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, selection, etc.; monitor and evaluate reports on supplier performance on a monthly or quarterly basis; ensure supply base has an adequate number of suppliers for a given commodity
  • Create and maintain positive, long-term supplier relationships/partnerships; make visits to Suppliers as needed
  • Negotiate and execute written, comprehensive supply agreements to support the sourcing strategies; ensure agreements satisfy commercial and legal requirements while contracting terms and best in class pricing for bottom-line financial savings and risk mitigation.
  • Manage the contractual relationship with suppliers to ensure needs of user groups are being met; ensure the quality and availability of materials and services are appropriate, conflicts are resolved, and continuous improvement opportunities are implemented.
  • Act as liaison between supplier and production in order to facilitate and build relationships

Trend Analysis/Forecasting and Reporting

  • Develop subject matter expertise of global supply and demand dynamics while maintaining a thorough understanding of the cost drivers associated with assigned commodity.
  • Analyze supply markets to assess trends and anticipate changes which could impact production; keep internal customers and management informed of supply market issues; maintain a thorough knowledge of relevant competitor and market issues and industry and potential supplier activities; participate in developing strategies and action plans to manage the sourcing cycle in a manner that will most benefit corporate goals; ensure adequate supplies of purchased products to meet sales requirements.
  • Perform and monitor monthly trend analysis for assigned categories used to produce goods; understand risk mitigation and key factors that influence the purchase of these items; obtain approval from Senior Director of Purchasing on purchase requests outside of normal operating conditions.
  • Locate and action input on sales and operation projections; works with various cross-functional players for planning and actual forecasting as opposed to budgeted forecasting.

  • Attends meetings as required and/or assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned
  • Participate in cross-functional processes, including but not limited to new product introduction, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Material Management Review Board, and various Viega Fit workshops.
  • Must be able to understand and manage various essential transactional functions for buying and material management roles supporting the category manager

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics or related field
  • AND
  • 9+ years of related source to pay experience in Purchasing and Strategic Sourcing
  • Indirect procurement experience required
  • SAP experience a plus
  • MBA a plus
  • CPM, CPSM, CSCP and/or CPIM certification(s) a plus

Total Rewards Package :

Compensation

  • Base: $109,000 - $148,000 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
  • Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
